Overview

VIVID Nav is a key offering within the suite of Telenav’s VIVID in-vehicle infotainment solutions. It encompasses a set of core and enhanced hybrid navigation features and is available as an SDK to enable developers to build their own custom in-vehicle navigation solutions.

VIVID Nav SDK includes all the essential navigation related functions such as routing, guidance, positioning, map rendering, voice assistance, predictive services and search. The SDK enables developers to build seamless hybrid navigation applications that combine cloud-connected services with in-vehicle software features to deliver personalized and contextual user experiences .

Here are the main features of VIVID Nav SDK.

MapView

MapView is used for showing the map on your designed Fragment/Activity. It provides flexible styling with thousands of configurable parameters and delivers base map rendering (lines, polygons, icons, transportation features, textures, etc.), 2D and 3D building rendering, landmarks support, 2D /3D CVP rendering, annotations support, and traffic/route rendering. MapView uses anti-aliasing, fog effects, and animations to enrich the driver's experience. The API offers auto-zoom and route eating functionality as well as full support for driver interaction.

Direction

Directions API helps drivers arrive safely to their destination. It offers route, ETA, guidance, and costs calculation for given Origin/Destination pairs. You can use various cost models and specify different “avoid” settings (unpaved, highways, tolls, seasonal roads, selected roads, etc.) and retrieve up to four route candidates. The guidance calculation offers partial guidance calculation support, reducing the time needed to start the navigation, while the cost calculation functionality enables energy consumption and range projections.

Navigation provides turn-by-turn guidance and progress information when navigating on a selected route. It supports over 20 types of maneuvers, flexible audio guidance with phonemes in 20+ languages and different verbosity levels, lane guidance, signpost, and junction view information. In addition, it provides real-time traffic information on the route, as well as a highly customizable "better route detection" service and range monitoring features for electric vehicles.
